Dear Colleagues,
We cordially invite you to the 18th Beyer-Machule Course, an advanced training course for Plastic and Reconstructive Eyelid Surgery. The course will take place November 28 to 30, 2024, at the Department of Ophthalmology of the University Hospital, Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU) Munich.
The interest in ophthalmic plastic reconstructive and aesthetic surgery remains strong, and the necessity for adequate patient care is as great as ever. The Munich “Plastic Course” addresses this need and provides colleagues from all involved disciplines in both clinical and practical settings the opportunity to learn about the principles and proven surgical procedures of Plastic-Reconstructive Eyelid Surgery and to deepen their own knowledge.
Renowned international experts will share their knowledge and experience with you. Practical and detailed presentations of relevant surgical methods, supplemented by video contributions, will make it easier for you to plan and successfully perform eyelid and periorbital procedures. In addition to selecting suitable surgical procedures, issues of indication and timing also often pose challenges.
Ample time is allocated for questions and discussions (Q&A). The event is bilingual, conducted in both English and German. An industrial exhibition featuring specific products will complement the course.
Due to the positive feedback from previous years, the practical exercises introducing suture techniques and simple eyelid plastics in a wet-lab format on animal cadavers will continue Saturday morning. This part is intended as an introduction to your manual activities and has very limited capacity.
The working group for Plastic-Reconstructive Eyelid and Orbital Surgery at the LMU Eye Clinic looks forward to your participation and wishes you an interesting conference, stimulating discussions, and enjoyable days in pre-Christmas Munich.
Prof. Dr. C. Hintschich
