Heads the Oculoplastic and Orbital Services at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, where he is dedicated to patient care, teaching, and research. He completed his medical training in ophthalmology at LMU Munich before specializing in eyelid and orbital surgery. His fellowship training included work with Charles Beyer-Machule (Munich), J. Richard O. Collin (London), and Leo Koornneef (Amsterdam).
In 1993 he became a full member of ESOPRS, serving as its Secretary from 2006 to 2014. He is a Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO) and an active member of both EUGOGO and the Orbital Society.
For more than two decades, he has led a multidisciplinary orbital board as well as a combined Graves’ clinic. He also organizes the Munich Beyer-Machule Course on Eyelid Surgery and the Munich Orbital Symposium, both held biennially.
Christoph Hintschich has been an invited lecturer and guest surgeon in numerous countries and has trained many international fellows. His main professional interests include functional and aesthetic eyelid surgery and orbital surgery, with a particular focus on ptosis correction, surgical rehabilitation in Graves’ disease, and management of the anophthalmic socket
Constantin Hintschich, MD, is a clinical scientist and surgeon focusing on oculoplastic, orbital, and lacrimal surgery at the Eye Hospital of Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. Alongside patient care, he is actively involved in teaching and research.
After completing specialty training in otolaryngology with experience in endoscopic surgery of the paranasal sinuses and skull base at the University Hospital Regensburg, he began an additional training in ophthalmology with special focus on oculoplastics at the LMU Eye Hospital.
He has an extensive research background in chemosenses, having completed his habilitation in 2023 and conducted a postdoc at Harvard University and Tufts University, Boston. He has received grants by the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, the German Society of Ophthalmology (DOG), and the German Society of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (DGHNO). He has a keen intertest in the surgical training of residents and is a co-founder of Cellsor Inc., a biotechnology company developing a living olfactory biosensor for real-time olfactory detection.
Aylin Garip Kübler embarked on her career journey with a residency at Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Department of Ophthalmology in Munich, from 2006 to 2011. She achieved a Specialist Ophthalmology certification in 2011 and obtained Fellowship of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO) in 2012. Following the completion of her residency, she served as a consultant with a focus on oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery in the same clinic. During this time, she worked closely with Professor Christoph Hintschich. In 2018 she became a full member of the European Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ESOPRS). Her research concentrates on improving the tools for diagnosing and treating optic nerve compression in patients with Thyroid Eye Disease.
Raman Malhotra is a Consultant Ophthalmic and Oculoplastic surgeon at The Queen Victoria
Hospital, East Grinstead, UK. He also runs a private practice in London.
His specialist interests include aesthetic eyelid surgery and reconstructive oculoplastic and orbital
surgery. He provides the oculoplastic care for the largest facial palsy service in the UK and runs an
international fellowship training programme.
He has developed the Malhotra endonasal DCR nibbler and endonasal punch. In 2013 he developed
the Malhotra Platinum segment chain for upper eyelid loading in facial palsy. In 2015, he described
and reported the post-levator aponeurosis fat pad, a layer of fat in the eyelid not previously
recognised in anatomy textbooks.
He has published over 250 peer-reviewed research articles, book chapters and books. He has served
as section editor of the British Journal of Ophthalmology for 10 years and is section editor for Clinical
Experimental Ophthalmology. He sits on the editorial board of Orbit, the international journal of the
European Society of Ophthalmic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
He has received the American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award and a Silver National
Clinical Excellence Award by the Department of Health.
He is a founder member of the British Oculoplastic Surgeons Society (BOPSS) and member of the
European Society of Ophthalmic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ESOPRS) and American
Society of Ophthalmic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASOPRS).

Ullrich G. Mueller-Lisse was born in Leverkusen, Germany. He studied biology at Ripon College, Ripon, WI, USA, medicine at the universities of Bonn, Germany, Bristol, England, UK, and California-San Francisco, USA, outcomes research and clinical epidemiology at the University of California-San Francisco, USA, and health care management at the University of Applied Sciences, Deggendorf, Germany. He pursued residency training in urology, radiology, and neuroradiology at the University of Munich Hospitals, Germany, and worked as a clinical instructor and research fellow in radiology at the University of California-San Francisco, USA.
Besides his M.D. degree, full medical license and board license in radiology, Ullrich G. Mueller-Lisse holds a B.A.-degree in biology, and an M.B.A.-degree for health care management. He has been attending radiologist since 2002, attending PET-CT radiologist since 2012, and Professor of Radiology at the University of Munich Hospitals, Germany, since 2010.
Ullrich G. Mueller-Lisse has served as an editorial board member of “European Radiology”, and as a reviewer for different national and international medical journals. He is an active member of different national and international medical societies, including the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the German Roentgen Society, and the European Society of Urogenital Radiology (ESUR). His research interests include MRI, CT, PET-CT, and new imaging systems in urogenital imaging, chest-and-lung imaging / occupational medicine, and head-and-neck imaging.
Anna Schuh, MD, FEBO, is a consultant and surgeon for oculoplastic, orbital, and lacrimal surgery at the Eye Hospital of Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. Besides patient care, she is actively involved in teaching and research.
After she completed her residency in ophthalmology, she undertook advanced oculoplastic training at LMU Munich (Prof. C. Hintschich) and refined her expertise in lacrimal surgery at the Eye Hospital Darmstadt (Prof. K.-H. Emmerich).
Her scientific work has been recognized with the Leonhard Klein Award for the Advancement of Ophthalmic Surgery, the Dieter Bumiller Research Award, and the Sicca Research Award.
She leads the cooperation project with the University Eye Department in Nairobi, Kenya.
Dr. Schuh is a full member of the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ESOPRS), the European Group on Graves’ Orbitopathy (EUGOGO), and the Section for Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the German Ophthalmological Society (SORC DOG).
Uli Schaudig trained in general and plastic surgery in Munich before he turned his interest to ophthalmology at the University Hospital in Hamburg Eppendorf.
After his board certification in 1997, he continued to work as a senior registrar at the University, with special interests in both oculoplastic and vitreoretinal surgery and completed his scientific work with a PH.D. thesis on retinal imaging. He served as head of ophthalmic pathology and the oculoplastic service.
In 2007, he became chief of the department of Ophthalmology at the Asklepios Klinik Barmbek.
His department serves as one of four hospital based centres of ophthalmology for the metropolitan area of Hamburg, provides a residency program and teaches undergraduate students for Hamburg University and Semmelweis University (Asklepios Medical School), Budapest.
He continues to work as a general ophthalmic surgeon, with a special interest in oculoplastic surgery.
He has published numerous articles in german and international peer –referenced journals and is a regular lecturer at international and national congresses.
He organized the 2019 annual Meeting of ESOPRS in Hamburg and co-organized the first online-only annual ESOPRS meeting 2021 during the SARS CoV2 pandemic.
